All-Star Band Takes on Bad Company’s “Shooting Star” with Robert DeLeo on Bass
Lzzy Hale joined an all star band for a killer take on Bad Company’s “Shooting Star” at the Sound & Vision Awards in Palm Springs. The performance was captured at the historic Plaza Theatre during an event honoring Paul Rodgers and Geezer Butler while raising money for music education through Adopt the Arts.
The Bad Company classic, written by Paul Rodgers and originally released on the band’s 1975 album Straight Shooter, features Hale on vocals with Phil X and Stevie Salas on guitars, Mike Mangan on keyboards, Robert DeLeo on bass, and Matt Sorum on drums.
DeLeo carries the low end on a Nelson GuitarWerks P/J bass. The Stone Temple Pilots bassist has used custom Nelson instruments built by luthier Bruce Nelson for years, including his familiar P/J style basses.
The performance will also appear on the upcoming Sound & Vision Live concert film and limited double vinyl album.
