Dinosaur Jr. Returns to Its Roots on New Album “There Near”

Dinosaur Jr. has just dropped a new album called There Near, marking a return to their earliest sounds. Guitarist J. Mascis took some free advice from a legendary producer to heart.
“It has a real interesting sound I haven’t gotten for a while,” Mascis says. “You always hear how Rick Rubin makes bands he’s producing sit down and listen to their first album and say let’s get back to that sound. So I just gave myself his advice.”
Bassist Lou Barlow also added a heavier, dirtier sound to the affair. Hear his big, fuzzy sound and creative bass line on “Everything at Once”:
The band revealed a new set of tour dates with the album drop that will push their itinerary well into 2027. Their previously announced concerts will stretch from Septmber to November as they cover the West Coast and South. Starting February 11th in Brooklyn, they’ll focus on the East Coast and Midwest, wrapping things up on March 13, 2027 in Boston, Massachusetts.
There Near is available now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (Apple Music, and Amazon Music).
