Watch Victor Wooten Create a Song From Scratch with Carl Verheyen and Nick D’Virgilio

Sweetwater brought Victor Wooten together with guitarist Carl Verheyen and drummer Nick D’Virgilio for a session with an interesting premise. There was no song and no chart. The three musicians simply walked into Sweetwater’s Performance Theatre and started creating.

They build a song from scratch, working out ideas and the arrangement as the cameras roll. Victor has his trusty Fodera Yin Yang in hand, and it is especially cool to watch how he responds to what Verheyen and D’Virgilio are playing. Ideas get tossed around, grooves start to settle in and the piece gradually takes shape.
