Medeski Martin & Wood Announce Rare New Orleans Show for 2027

Medeski Martin & Wood have announced an exclusive one-night-only headline performance at the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans. The concert, taking place April 23rd during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, will be the jazz-funk trio’s first appearance at the event in ten years.
“New Orleans holds a special place in our hearts. Jonathan Mayers (Superfly), who we sadly lost in 2025, was an early supporter and he flew us down to play Tips in 1996. We brought our parents and dubbed it ‘The Parental Summit,’” says John Medeski. “We fell in love with the place and over the following 20 years we had countless great shows, met so many of our musical heroes, and had great times there.”
MMW is rounded out by drummer Billy Martin and bassist Chris Wood, whose creative lines build the foundation of the band’s sound. Wood is often busy with his brother Oliver in the band The Wood Brothers. Medeski Martin & Wood played only two concerts last year, both outside the U.S., making their upcoming New Orleans appearance special for fans.
Tickets and additional info can be found on Ticketmaster. Until then, check out the trio’s 2013 Session From the Box appearance on KZME.
