Ministry Brings Paul Barker Back for One Last Stand on Farewell Album

Ministry has closed a chapter of its history with Hate to Go – Take Out Or Delivery, which frontman Al Jourgensen says is the industrial metal band’s final album. Their 17th studio album comes 45 years after the band formed in 1981. Jourgensen told Forbes that he feels done with it and doesn’t need to continue.

“I don’t see any practical reason for me to come back,” he said. “We’ve done what we set out to do. 17 or 18 albums later, we’re still screaming about the same stuff. And nothing has changed.”

Ministry’s fiery activism is apparent from the get-go on the album opener, “Crickets.” Like most of the album, the song is anchored by former Tool bassist Paul D’Amour, who joined Ministry in 2019.

Hate to Go – Take Out Or Delivery serves as a perfect wrap-up by including former bassist and collaborator Paul Barker, who appears on the track “We’re Still Here.” It marks his first appearance on a Ministry song in over 20 years.

“We really wanted to bring Paul Barker back into the fold. To let everyone know that we’ve mended all fences,” Jourgensen told Forbes. “We already had the box giftwrapped with this album. And the contents inside the box we felt were acceptable. It was a decent present to give. It was giftwrapped. And Barker was the bow.”

“We’re Still Here” leans into the band’s heavier metal side. Check it out:
