I became a huge fan of Michael Hedges and Michael Manring during my high school years – individually and collectively. Manring recently shared this video on Facebook of their performance of the Hedges’ tune, “I’m Coming Home”.

It’s been a while since we’ve shared a video by Scary Pockets, but this one is too cool to pass up. In this clip, the band (with Anna Butterss on bass) mashes up Jamiroquai’s “Virtual Insanity” with some John Mayer-inspired sounds.

Nenad Vasilic sent us his latest video of a solo bass piece called “Roberto’s Blues”. Nenad performs the tune on his RF Travel Bass Lite, which sounds fantastic.

Zycopolis TV just shared an epic video from Jazz à Juan 1994 with Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Steve Swallow, and Bill Stewart.

No Treble readers are bringing it with the videos lately. Here’s one sent to us by Andrew McKinney. Andrew recorded a version of Carol Kaye’s funky line from “El Toro Poo Poo” with his 1962 P Bass with flats - and an assist by his daughter.

Gilad Ephrat sent us this video with one fantastic cover of Peter Gabriel’s “Mercy Street”. Gilad recorded 16 tracks on double bass, with Enav Ephrat on vocals. I love his solos on this one.

Our friend Jason Heath shared this video on Facebook recently, and I am glad he did. Bassist Cristina Zeitz and pianist Andreas Ravn teamed up for this performance of “Barro Tal Vez”. I dig everything about this: the bass, vocals, Rhodes, and the arrangement.

The Main Squeeze returns in epic fashion with their live cover of James Brown’s “Sex Machine” in this new video. As usual, Rob Walker holds down the low end for the band, which is joined by special guests this time around.

Sean Geist sent us this video of his collaboration with pianist Michael Pelz-Sherman and their tribute/cover of Pat Metheny’s “Letter From Home.” I’m always a fan of great fretless bass work, and this fits the bill.
