This morning I awoke to the news that Lyle Mays has passed. Here’s a clip from a 1991 concert featuring Lyle and the Pat Metheny Group performing “Last Train Home.” The lineup includes Steve Rodby on bass.

Adam Ben Ezra is back with a brand-new video, which is another preview for his upcoming album, “Hide And Seek.” Recorded live at Little Big Beat Studios, Adam once again creates a wall of sound with his bass, effects, vocals, and more.

I am really digging on Scary Goldings lately, and I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of their album, “The Ego Trap.” In this clip, the band is joined by Robben Ford and once again backed by the groovy bass lines of Joe Ayoub.

Pearl Jam’s new album, “Gigaton,” is set to release in March. They just gave us a sneak peek with this video of the track “Dance Of The Clairvoyants.” The band mixed things up a bit on this one, with Stone Gossard playing bass.

NPR Music just shared an exciting new episode of Tiny Desk Concert, featuring the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra. This lineup includes Scales along with bassist E’Lon JD and drummer Maison Guidry - with a guest appearance by Béla Fleck.

Zycopolis TV just shared some great videos from The Yellowjackets 2019 concert at New Morning. Dane Alderson is in the line-up, masterfully holding down the low end on the tune, “Brotherly.”

Wojtek Stanisz sent us this new video featuring his beautiful solo bass composition, “Flahjo.” “It’s based on harmonics and there’s also a live loop in this performance,” he shared, adding “there’s an Easter Egg for attentive recipients.”

Eagle Rock Entertainment shared this video recently, in advance of a new ZZ Top film that is set to release on February 28th. Here’s a clip from “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas,” which features the band performing “Brown Sugar.”

Here’s something I missed at this year’s NAMM Show, but thankfully someone recorded it. Hadrien Feraud, Federico Malaman, Dario Chiazzolino, and Kalyan Pathak took the stage to perform this great version of Roy Hargrove’s “Strasbourg / St. Denis.”

A couple of weeks ago, Billy Strings performed at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. In this clip, they absolutely nail the Grateful Dead tune, “Wharf Rat.” Royal Masat pulls double duty on bass and vocal harmonies.

The Wood Brothers visited the Paste Studios in NYC recently to play music from their new album, “Kingdom In My Mind.” After listening to this, I can’t wait to spin this new effort by Chris Wood and the guys on vinyl!
