Cory Wong is mostly known for his guitar work, but the man can lay it down on his first instrument (the bass). Cory launched The Fourth Position Academy – Petar Janjic Drum Course, and they shared a segment he calls “Drummer Tries To Throw Off Bass Player.”

You may not know it, but modern funk guitar hero Cory Wong actually got his musical start on the bass. Wong has just returned with a new solo album called “The Lucky One,” featuring both his guitar and bass talents.

The videos from Cory Wong’s tour with Victor Wooten keep coming, and here’s another great one. Here’s the great bass trio of Cory, Victor, and Sonny T performing “Dean Town” live in St. Louis.

Cory Wong’s live videos are always entertaining. Here’s a clip of the band performing “Synchronicity” with Ripe’s Robbie Wulfsohn on vocals. This one has a twist, though, with Sonny T taking on the guitar duties while Wong gets down on bass.

Cory Wong’s Cory and The Wongnotes series is in its second season, and they just released an awesome (and hilarious) video. “The Great British Bass Off” features Cory, Sonny T, and Annie in a bake-off-inspired competition.

I’ve really been enjoying Cory Wong’s latest record, “Motivational Music for the Syncopated Soul,” since its release in August. Here’s a new video Cory shared from the album. “Frogville” features bassist Kevin MacIntire, two drummers, and custom jerseys.

Cory Wong is back with a new video, and we’re once again digging the sound. In this performance of “Simon,” Wong is once again joined by Kevin MacIntire on bass. I love the unison lines on this one, and the shirt offers a cool background too.

We’ve seen Cory Wong’s impressive guitar skills on many Vulfpeck videos, as well as his own solo project. Now we get to hear him lay it down on the bass. In this track, Cory handles not only the bass, but also the guitar, percussion, piano/keys, and vocals, along with KATIS on lead vocals.

Cory Wong has just released a new video in support of his latest album, The Optimist. “’91 Maxima” is another funky tune, thanks in part to bassist Sonny T, who was a member of The New Power Generation, Prince’s recording and stage band, from 1991–1996.
