Primal Scream has returned with their first album in eight years. “Come Ahead” features a blend of funk and fire with the most personal songs that frontman Bobby Gillespie has ever written.

Saddle up, because bassist Will “Mustang” McGee has just released an EP called It’s Mustang Time! The Nashville-based artist wrote the songs in his own blend of retro rock, blues, and country.

Keith Jarrett is a master of interpreting jazz standards. One of his many examples is the 1994 album “Live at the Deer Head Inn.” Now, 30 years later, the remainder of that 1992 performance has been released as “The Old Country: More from the Deer Head Inn.”

The Bad Plus has returned with “Complex Emotions,” marking the band’s second effort with the new quartet lineup of bassist Reid Anderson, drummer Dave King, guitarist Ben Monder, and saxophonist Chris Speed.

Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes has returned with a new solo album entitled “Million Voices Whisper.” The powerhouse guitarist and vocalist’s first solo effort in nearly a decade is a special one with guest appearances from Derek Trucks, Lukas Nelson, Jamey Johnson, and more.

The Pixies have just released “The Night the Zombies Came,” which marks their 10th studio album overall. Another milestone is that it is the first record with their new bassist, Emma Richardson.

311 has released Full Bloom, their first full-length album in five years. The band, featuring deep grooves by Aaron “P-Nut” Wills, wrote the album as a positive message about connecting with others through music.

Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell has released his fourth solo album with “I Want Blood.” As the name suggests, the album comes with a healthy dose of aggression and heaviness.

Pianist/composer Aaron Parks has returned with “Little Big III,” which marks the third album with his band Little Big. The quartet also includes guitarist Greg Tuohey, drummer Jongkuk Kim, and bass guru David Ginyard, Jr.

Joni Mitchell’s archival releases have continued with Archives – Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980), which sheds light on the singer-songwriter’s jazzier phase of the last ’70s. The lineup includes bassists Jaco Pastorius, Charles Mingus, Rob Stoner, Max Bennett, Stanley Clarke, and Eddie Gomez.

The late, great Andy Rourke was best known for his work with The Smiths, but he also played for Sinead O’Connor, Badly Drawn Boy, Morrissey, and more. In his later years, he started a group called Blitz Vega with Kav Sandhu. Now, Rourke’s final project has been released to the world.
