2023 Reader Favorites

We’ve reached the top of the list, and this year’s reader-favorite bassist is Tal Wilkenfeld. Tal was busy this year, touring with the Allman Betts Family Revival and Incubus and recording some great music with Scary Goldings and Scary Pockets.

Watching Charles Berthoud play is a jaw-dropping experience. So, seeing him on the top 10 list for 2023 is no surprise. He lands at #2 on the 2023 reader favorite bassist list.

Geezer Butler wasn’t featured a ton on No Treble in 2023, but the news was huge. As a result, he lands at #3 on this year's reader favorite bassists list.

Ellen Alaverdyan is a truly inspiring bassist. The young musician turned 11 in 2023, and continued recording her videos showcasing her skills and growth. Ellen once again makes the annual reader favorite bassists list for 2023.

Geddy Lee was super busy in 2023, and the news was exciting. He published his memoir, released his docuseries, and unearthed some demos from his 2000 solo debut, “My Favorite Headache.” That was enough, but there were other things to enjoy from Geddy in 2023.

One of the busiest bassists on the scene, Leland Sklar, kept it going in 2023. He lands at #6 on this year’s reader favorite bassists list.

Once again, Victor Wooten makes this year’s reader favorite bassists list. Victor had another busy year, touring with Cory Wong and The Wooten Brothers, and producing some inspiring new videos along the way.

Nathan East is no stranger to the annual reader favorite bassists list, and 2023 was no exception. Nathan takes the 8th spot on the 2023 list.

Tony Levin once again makes the annual reader favorite bassists list for 2023, thanks in part to his first new music with Peter Gabriel in 20 years.
