Hovak Alaverdyan (Ellen Alaverdyan‘s father) reached out to me with this video, asking me if we’d share it with No Treble readers. In this one, Hovak and Ellen perform their first original tune, “Don’t Stop The Music”.

Derek Frank sent us this video he shot at Baked Potato last year, with the band performing “Onward” from his latest album, “Eleven Years Later”. The mix is incredible, as is the performance and tune.

Federico Malaman has shared some stellar solo bass videos over the years, and he’s just done it again. Here he his performing one his favorite tunes by Sting: “Seven Days”.

No Treble reader Frowin Ickler sent us an incredible video he did with vocalist Dominik Steegmüller. Here’s their R&B/Neosoul version of “Message in a Bottle” by the Police. Frowin laid down three different bass parts.

I was super excited to see NPR drop this video of Esperanza Spalding performing on their Tiny Desk (Home) Concert program. Enjoy this performance of music from her Songwrights Apothecary Lab project.

I love the Sugarshack Sessions. Here’s a recent video they produced that is definitely worth sharing. Hector Roots Lewis performs his original song “Ups and Downs” live at the Sugarshack in Bonita Springs, FL.

The other night during a No Treble team meeting, Vuyani told me about a few Brazilian bassists to check out. Here’s one of the videos he sent me, with Giane Rangel playing along to Raiz Worship’s “Foi na Cruz”. Giane makes that Sire Marcus Miller V5 go!

Charles Berthoud has produced an incredible run of “When They Say…” videos. In this one, he responds to the “You Have Too Many Frets” comment by playing a fretless. It is pretty epic.

One of my favorite new albums has been Fernando Molinari’s “Reaching Inside”. He’s just released a few more videos from the making of the album including this one for “Mercurio”, featuring Marco Minnemann and Davi Filho.

Lake Street Dive posted a video yesterday in honor of Betty White, who passed away on December 31st. In this clip, the band performs “Thank You For Being A Friend” (the theme from “The Golden Girls”), with Bridget Kearney on the Hofner.

Juliaplaysgroove is starting the new year off with a fresh, new video! In this clip, she takes on my favorite Thundercat tune, “Them Changes.” That Musicman Sterling sounds great, and all the basses are covered.
