Asia to Celebrate 30th Anniversary with New Album and Tour

Asia: XXXThe original line-up for Asia, anchored by bassist John Wetton, along with Geoff Downes, Steve Howe and Carl Palmer, is gearing up for the British rock band’s 30th anniversary with the announcement of a new album, XXX and tour.

XXX will be available in multiple formats, including a standard CD, a collector’s edition CD/2-DVD set and a limited edition vinyl. The album will be available in mainland Europe on June 29, in the UK on July 2, and in North America on July 3, 2012.

Formed in 1982, Asia hit the music world with a bang with their debut release, which remained #1 for nine consecutive weeks on the Billboard Top 100 chart. The band will re-issue a 30th Anniversary edition of that album this year as well. The 30th anniversary release will include two audio CDs, with a re-mastered edition of the album on the first disc and a collection of rare live tracks on the second. The set will be packaged with an expansive booklet, limited edition t-shirt, items from Asia’s 1982 tour, and a DVD containing a documentary entitled “Asia – 30 Years On”.

The band has released the first video single from XXX, “Face On The Bridge”:
