Ibanez Introduces Peter Iwers PIB3 5-String Bass
In Flames bassist Peter Iwers has teamed up with Ibanez to release a third signature bass called the PIB3. Featuring a new blood red finish, the company says the new five-string model’s secret weapon is the EQB-IIID 3-band EQ. The mid control is set up to boost at one frequency while cutting at a different frequency to optimize mid-frequency control.
The bass’s mahogany body is loaded with a pair of CAP EXF-N2 pickups, which have an arched design to set each string at equal distance to the pickup. Ibanez says this offers balanced string-to-string volume output and describes their tonal quality as punchy. Other features on the bass include a five-piece maple/rosewood neck, a rosewood fretboard with a special inlay at the 12th fret, and a mono-rail IV bridge. It comes factory tuned to D#, A#, F, C, and A#.
The Ibanez Peter Iwers Signature PIB3 is available now for $499.99.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what’s up with the factory tuning? (1D#,2A#,3F,4C,5A#)
Peters preferred tuning, I never understood either.
Only thing I can figure is maybe he is/was a cellist and is comfortable with tuning in 5ths-ish….?
some funny picture….bartolini pu on a natural wood body…doesn’t look like a red 5 string Ibanez…?…and the black 4 string….?
Those are just pictures for reference towards the different specs the bass has
I would like to know where I can find the Ibanez 5stringPeter Iwers signature bass PIB3 for 499.
You can go to Yanda’s Music website, it seems to be the only retailer that has the bass
