Swedish bass building company Unicornbass has announced the Artist 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Bass. Limited to 10 basses, the instrument is based on one of their existing models with several special upgrades.

“[It is] based upon the Artist Master bass, however this has a few hidden tricks up its sleeve,” luthier Christian Olsson writes. “[They include] a chambered body of Khaya mahogany (sapeli mahogany on the prototype) with a wenge separator and AAAA Quilt maple top tinted in a special black burst finish.”

The seven-piece neck is made of maple and purpleheart and ends with a semi-scarfed headstock. Its fretboard is macassar ebony with 24 frets made from a special alloy that Olsson says describes as much harder than silver nickel frets.

The pickups are a pair of Unicornbass QUAD 10th Anniversary customs matched to an active/passive preamp with 4-band EQ. Hardware includes an ETS solid brass 2-piece bridge and Hipshot Ultralite tuners.

The Unicornbass Artist 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Bass can be ordered in 32 or 34-inch scales and either four, five, or six-string versions. They’re available now with a prices ranging from approximately $4,780 for the four-string to $5,516 for the six-string.
