Richard Hunter: Bass Playthrough of “Don” by Ship of Theseus
Bassist Richard Hunter has a new band called Ship of Theseus. To celebrate the group’s first single, Hunter sent us this impressive playthrough.
“Don” is a progressive technical instrumental piece that features the bassist laying down the low end with a thick, gritty tone. Hunter builds the song up with blazing riffs, two-handed tapping, and slap to slyly change up the song’s texture.
In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
zowie…that is kind of hair raising. Cool tone and man his right hand looks so relaxed for that kind of really technical playing. Not my kind of music but still impressive playing.
