Fodera Unveils Victor Wooten Yin Yang Deluxe Series III Bass

Fodera Victor Wooten Yin Yang Deluxe Series III Bass

Fodera has unveiled the Victor Wooten Yin Yang Deluxe Series III, a new take on the bass guru’s signature instrument. The bass, which is his third signature fretted Yin Yang, is designed to have a broader and unique range of tones with different woods and electronics.

“Earlier this year Victor visited the shop to demo various possible tonewood combinations and selected the combination of a chambered Walnut body with a Red Oak neck and Ebony fingerboard,” Fodera writes. “Tonally this instrument delivers deep, rich, articulate lows with wonderful presence and piano-like clarity in the upper register. In addition, the chambering to the Walnut body can definitely be heard and adds just the right amount of ‘air’ to the overall sound.”

It’s top is hand-joined spalted maple and ebony that creates the yin yang shape. The fingerboard is inlayed with Mother-of-Pearl dots and a large spalted maple dot to complete the yin yang. The new bass also strays from his standard EMG pickups, opting instead for a set of the Fodera/Seymour Duncan dual coil pickups matched to a Fodera/Pope 3-band preamp.

The Yin Yang Deluxe Series III will be available on a direct-order basis only. The first three will be premiered by Wooten at the Thomann Bass Day and will have unique inlays showing that they are 1, 2, or 3 of 3. Continued production of the bass will be limited to three per year and will be made in the same order. Fodera will still continue production of Yin Yang Customs as well, which are limited to six per year. Contact Fodera for pricing.
