Ibanez Adds More BTB Bass Models for 2017
Ibanez has further expanded their BTB model range with several incarnations. This summer they expanded the BTB700 series with four and seven-string models, plus their BTB Premium line will now have options for figured maple tops.
The BTB is typically a five or six-string bass, but the BTB740 and BTB747 take things one step further as a four-string and a seven-string version, respectively. They each carry the same features of the BTB700 series including a newly contoured body, a 35-inch scale, and a longer upper horn. Other common features include Bartolini BH2 pickups, an Ibanez custom 3-band EQ, a zero fret, and a Mono-rail V bridge. Each is built with mahogany and ash body wings topped with walnut, though the seven-string bass has a nine-piece maple, rosewood, and walnut neck where the four-string has a five-piece maple and rosewood neck.
After reintroducing the BTB Premium this year, the company has added the BTB1905E and BTB1906E models. They also carry the same new body design but offer a new configuration of materials. They are built with figured maple tops matched to an ash and figured maple body. Both models have a nine-piece wenge, bubinga, and maple neck with graphite reinforcements as well as a rosewood fretboard with Premium Fret Edge treatment. Electronics include Aguilar DCB pickups and an Ibanez Custom 3-band EQ.
The new Ibanez models will be available soon with list prices of $1,171 for the BTB740, $1,377 for the BTB747, $2,204 for the BTB1905E, and $2,342 for the BTB1906E.
