Jacob Collier Releases “Djesse Vol. 4”
Multi-instrumentalist and musical genius Jacob Collier has completed his Djesse album series with the newly-released Djesse Vol. 4. The star-studded record covers an enormous amount of musical ground with jazz, pop, latin, and even some heavy metal.
Collier is joined by a who’s who of popular music: Brandi Carlile, John Mayer, Lizzy McAlpine, Lawrence, Michael McDonald, Shawn Mendes, Stormzy, Kirk Franklin, Camilo, John Legend, Tori Kelly, and more.
Collier performed the majority of the instruments – including bass – on the whole album, but he did have a little help. His longtime collaborator and touring bassist Robin Mullarkey contributed some bass to the opening track, “100,000 Voices,” as did Arch Echo bassist Joe Calderone. Additionally, several tracks feature the Metropole Orkest with bassists Arend Liefkes and Erik Winkelmann.
Check out Collier’s bass work on “Wherever I Go” with guests Lawrence and Michael McDonald.
Djesse Vol. 4 is out now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3). As we previously reported, Jacob Collier will be on tour in North America from May to June with Mullarkey on bass. See below for dates.
