Gov’t Mule Celebrates 30th Anniversary with 2025 Tour and Kevin Scott on Bass

Kevin ScottGov’t Mule is ready to giddy up and go. The band has just announced the “Back in the Saddle” tour, which will continue to celebrate their 30th anniversary with North American dates in the late summer and fall. It marks the band’s first major outing since February 2024 as guitarist/vocalist Warren Haynes has been focusing on his solo band. Both Gov’t Mule and the Warren Haynes Band are anchored by bassist Kevin Scott, who joined the fold in 2023.

“How has it been 30 years since Gov’t Mule’s first album came out? It’s kinda crazy to believe – time really does fly when you’re doing what you love!” shares Haynes. “It’s also hard to believe that it’s been over a year since the last Mule tour. Matt, Danny, Kevin and I are chomping at the bit to be back out there celebrating this monumental anniversary with our amazing fans.”

The Back in the Saddle tour will kick off amid previously announced dates. Mule’s next performance will be on July 26 at FloydFest 25 in Floyd County, Virginia. From there, they’ll head into the Midwest and cut up to New England, where they will play previously announced co-headlining shows with the Tedeschi Trucks Band. The bulk of new dates will begin in October and focus on the Southeast. The last date on the run will be October 28th in Reading, Pennsylvania.

As we wrote in our interview with Scott in 2023, it seems he’s the perfect player to fit into Gov’t Mule. His southern roots and specialty in improvisation have propelled the band into a new era of strength and exploration. He takes some killer solos, but his tasteful accompaniment really makes everyone else shine. Check out this clip of him tearing it up while Haynes solos on “Game Face”:
