Kevin Scott Unleashes a Filthy Bass Tone on Forq’s Live at Moods Set
This performance was filmed at Moods in Zurich in 2019, but Qwest TV recently pulled it from the archive and shared it on YouTube. We are glad they did.
Forq was originally formed by keyboardist Henry Hey and bassist Michael League. The group later evolved to feature guitarist Chris McQueen, drummer Jason “JT” Thomas, and bassist Kevin Scott. The band moves easily between crushing grooves, warped sounds, and beautifully unpredictable turns. Scott is playing a Moollon Precision style bass and getting an absolutely massive sound out of it. There are some heavy effects involved, and it sounds like an octave effect may be helping him reach those subterranean depths.
Whatever is on the pedalboard, the result is gloriously nasty. Scott locks in with Thomas, rattles the floor, and reminds us that clean bass tones are sometimes highly overrated.
