Nuclear Audio Debuts the Fission Drive Dual-Band Overdrive Pedal

Nuclear Audio Fission Drive

Nuclear Audio has launched with their debut pedal, the Fission Drive. The stompbox, designed for both bass and guitar, is described as two drives in one pedal.

“Split your signal into highs and lows at a frequency you select, then drive them each separately – from subtle breakup to thick fuzz,” the company explains. “Apply separate outboard effects to each channel using the independent high and low effects loops. Use the recombined signal from the output jack, or just use the sends from the effects loops to drive separate rigs – or use all three!”

The Split Freq knob has a switch to toggle between high and low ranges. Each sigal path has its own gain and level knobs as well as a Hi Gain/Lo Gain switch. Finally, the output section has tone and volume knobs. The channels can be recombined normally or with a notch filter at the split frequency.

Hear the bass in action in this demo by John McCaslin.

The Nuclear Audio Fission Drive is built in Joplin, Missouri. It’s available now for $300.
