John Paul Jones to Receive Gold Badge Award
John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin and Them Crooked Vultures will honored with a Gold Badge Award, given out by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. The event, which will also recognize twelve other recipients, will take place October 20 at the Savoy Hotel in London.
Jones is being honored not only for his time with Led Zeppelin, but also his work as a musical director, arranger, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. His contributions have permeated the years through his solo albums and most recently his time with supergroup, Them Crooked Vultures.
The BASCA Gold Badge Awards, which are given every year, celebrate “the achievements of an outstanding group of men and women that have made an outstanding contribution to Britain’s music and entertainment industry.”
“A Gold Badge conveys so much that would otherwise be left unsaid,” says BASCA Chairman Sarah Rogers. “It says, ‘What you do for us songwriters and composers is remarkable and has not gone unnoticed.’ It says, ‘We couldn’t do it without you.’”
