Ellefson-Soto Take On FEAR and Elvis Presley in Two Surprise New Covers

David Ellefson and vocalist Jeff Scott Soto have released two new singles with their collaborative band, Ellefson-Soto – and they might surprise you. The two covers are of very different styles, showcasing the band’s diverse influences.
First up is a cover of “IDCAY” by the iconic Los Angeles punk band FEAR. The in-your-face jam is full of grit and attitude. Next is a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock,” which gets a heavier spin with distorted guitar and rumbling bass.
“The band FEAR has been a staple of our attitude and style of music from the beginning,” the former Megadeth bassist explains. “And Elvis Presley has only become more legendary in recent years with so many films and documentaries about his iconic life. Let’s face it — he’s the one who showed us all how rock stardom was done from the start. So we thought it fitting to honor the King of Rock and Roll and the kings of punk rock at the same time.”
Watch Ellefson rock out in the videos for both songs:
The songs were recorded in London by Alessio Garavello during a session making videos for their latest release, Unbreakable. The band is currently gearing up to play the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California on April 9th. They’re also slated to join the Monsters of Rock cruise from April 12th to 17th.
