Thundercat Returns With “Distracted,” His Most Expansive Album Yet

Thundercat‘s new album, Distracted, is out now. The bass phenom’s fifth studio album is his first since 2020’s It Is What It Is, and proves to be his most expansive.
It’s packed with collaborations from Willow, Remi Wolf, A$AP Rocky, Lil Yachty, Channel Tres, Tame Impala, and the late Mac Miller. Thundercat brought on executive producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters) to help shape the project.
“Working with Greg was awesome,” Thundercat told Flood Magazine. “I wasn’t aware of how it would take shape through the course of this album…it was a suggestion that we worked together at one point, and here we are. He would complete sentences with me. We had so much to pull from between our ability to play and the equipment.”
One thing that has not changed is his unbelievable bass playing. From simple yet perfect grooves to a blur of notes, his incredible style is on point.
Check out the laid-back groove of “A.D.D. Through the Roof,” which features the bass trading solos with a synth.
Distracted is out now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (Apple Music, and Amazon Music).
