Foo Fighters Kick Off a New Chapter With “Your Favorite Toy”
Foo Fighters are back with Your Favorite Toy, their first album since 2023’s emotional But Here We Are. Their 12th studio effort is described as a new chapter in the band’s history, marked by a brash tonal center and punk rock club energy. That sound is encapsulated in the title track, which kicked off the entire project.
“‘Your Favorite Toy’ really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album,” bandleader Dave Grohl explains. “We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”
Bassist Nate Mendel helps to glue the record together with solid bass lines and thick tone. Check out the band’s brash tones and frenetic energy on “Caught in the Echo”:
