“Caught In the Echo” has always been one of the heavier entries in the band’s catalog, and that weight comes through here. On bass, Nate Mendel is on his signature Fender Precision, serving up a thick, punchy tone that just drives forward. He is locked in keeping everything tight while the rest of the band goes big on top.
SNL performances can be hit or miss when it comes to mix, but this one has a good balance. The bass is present and clear, cutting through and you can each layer has clarity.
