Ziggy Marley Channels Positivity and Healing on Brightside

Ziggy Marley Brightside

Ziggy Marley has returned with Brightside, a fresh reggae album different from anything he’s made thus far. The son of Bob Marley co-wrote the eight songs with his brother Stephen and recorded them at Rebel Lion Studio in Los Angeles using 432Hz, which is a frequency used for meditation and mindfulness practices. That sense of mental health and positivity is the foundation of the music.

“You see what’s happening in the world, what’s happening to people, and it really brings me down sometimes. I realized the album was going to have an introspective side to it. [The music] became my therapy,” Marley states.

Brightside features several special guests, including vocalist Nikka Costa, Trombone Shorty, Sheila E., and Jake Shimabukuro. Marley tapped Wailers bassist Aston Barrett, Jr., as well as Camilla Charlesworth (Kim Gordon, Olivia Rodrigo, The Veronicas, Lenny Kravitz) to fill out the low-end melodies.
