Kikuchi Guitars Brings Its Boutique Japanese Bass Craftsmanship to Europe and USA

Kikuchi Guitars Hermes Basses

Japanese boutique bass company Kikichi Guitars is now available in Europe and the United States. The brand is led by luthier Yoshiyuki “Yoshi” Kikuchi, who already has some serious credentials.

“After founding Atelier Z in the 1980s, Kikuchi moved to New York in the early ’90s to work alongside Roger Sadowsky and John Suhr. Later, he became responsible for building the Sadowsky Metroline Japan basses. Today, decades of experience in craftsmanship, setup and refinement come together in Kikuchi Guitars.”

Kikuchi’s flagship model is the Hermes, which combines inspiration from ’60s and ’70s J basses with modern refinements, including specially selected tonewoods, premium components, and electronics. It comes several versions: MV or RV (maple or rosewood fingerboard), 70 (70s pickup spacing), and passive. Kikuchi offers each model in four or five-string versions.
