Dingwall Expands the SP1 Bass With a Maple Fingerboard Option
Last year, Dingwall introduced the SP1, a bass they say “puts a new twist on an all-time classic.” The model blends Dingwall’s features, including a multi-scale neck and the Novax Fanned-Fret system, with classic bass design elements including an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. The company has now expanded its options.
“We heard you, and we are excited to announce the SP1 model now comes with a Maple fretboard option!” they wrote on Instagram. These are available to order now.”
The rest of the SP1’s features remain the same. It comes in four or five-string versions in four colors: Metallic Black, Vintageburst, Dark Candy Green, and Ducati Pearl White. Each bass is fitted with Dingwall’s F3Dn bridge pickup and a Dual-P pickup in the neck position. The control set includes Volume and Tone controls as well as a Quad-Tone pickup selector. “In its first position, this selects the front pickup alone,” Dingwall explains, “one click on is the front plus the back pickup in series, then in parallel; and finally, the back pickup on its own.”
The Dingwall SP1 is made with hybrid manufacturing between Indonesia and Canada. It’s available now with prices of $2,510 for the four-string and $2,605 for the five-string.
