Dunable Unveils Mika Hakki’s Monolord Signature R2 Bass

Dunable Guitars has unveiled signature guitar and bass models for Monolord’s Thomas Jäger and Mika Hakki. Available in limited quantities, the instruments came about after years of collaboration.
“Monolord have been great friends of Dunable Guitars for almost a decade, using the brand’s guitars and basses as weapons of choice for their torrential downpour of heavy tones and catchy hooks live and in the studio,” Dunable writes. “[Monolord’s new album] Neverending is a perfect showcase of their mastery in blending loud metal with great songwriting, and similarly an encapsulation of what Dunable instruments were built for.”
Hakki’s R2 bass features a 35-inch scale with a charred swamp ash body, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard. The fretboard is only marked by Luminlay side dots. It comes in two variations: the Katana, which has a pair of Dunable Katana pickups, and the PJ, which has their D-split and D-J configuration. Dunable says the Katana offers a hotter output and a sharper attack, while the PJ has a more traditional sound.
Other common features include Leo Quan hardware, a Monolord Icon graphic on the headstock, and a tuxedo stripe pickguard.
“After years of using and owning several Dunable Guitars, it’s a great privilege to be part of the Dunable team with this amazing instrument,” Hakki states. “When Sacha Dunable asked us what color options we wanted for the instruments, I just saw this sick scorched bass in my mind, and he got probably equally as stoked on the idea as we did. Great minds twist alike!”
The Dunable R2 Bass is available now for $3,500.
