Watch Tony Levin & Stick Men Channel the Spirit of THRAK in Their New “Komodo” Video
Stick Men have released the official video for “Komodo,” and this one is pretty much the definition of prog.
Tony Levin works the Chapman Stick through massive low notes and twisting melodic lines alongside Markus Reuter on Touch Guitars U8 Deluxe. Pat Mastelotto has a heavy foot with a powerful mix of acoustic drums, electronic drums, and percussion. Levin is one of the Chapman Stick’s earliest adopters and helped define its role in progressive music. On “Komodo,” the trio moves through dense rhythms and sharp turns with total precision.
The band performs in a stone lined space that looks part castle and part old church, making it a great fit for the music.

Very good song with a lot of interesting changes and movement. All 3 are excellent at their craft. I have 2 minor criticisms: 1. As a former drummer, current bass player, I thought the ride cymbal sounded awful whenever he went to it. 2. The video was shot so close on the guitarist I never got a complete view of his instrument, which was very interesting. I wanted to see more.
