Gear Watch: Empress Phaser Pedal
Empress Effects has just released a new phaser pedal that features an all-analog signal path that is controlled by a microprocessor, giving analog tone with digital control and adaptability. This allows for the classic sounds you’re used to, but its groundbreaking auto modes (envelope filtering, audio-triggered sweeps, rhythms and direct control) are what make it stand out.
The Empress Phaser allows users to choose between 2 stage, 3 stage, or 4 stage modes, which are all controllable via tap tempo sweeping through 8 different waveforms.
The phaser is made to be studio friendly, with an expression pedal input that accepts control voltage, external tap, external audio control, and MIDI.
“We’ve designed the phaser to be able to fully integrate with today’s digitally driven studios,” says Jason Fee, Chief Designer on the project, “and with the integration of MIDI and external control becoming so important in today’s high end pedal boards, this will be a huge bonus for lots of users.”
