Donny Benét, the Sexiest Bassist Alive, Plays “Winter Sunset” on a Fretless Wal

Donny Benét is back in the studio and the sexiest bassist alive brought the right bass for the occasion.

In his latest “Back in the Studio” video, Benét digs into “Winter Sunset,” the closing track from his 2026 instrumental album, Il Basso. It is a six minute slow burn with his gorgeous fretless Wal that sounds downright luxurious in his hands.

Donny has an incredible bass collection but this Wal is a particularly seductive choice. He gets everything from deep singing low notes to some killer lead lines out of it, showing why fretless bass can be such an expressive beast.

“Winter Sunset” closes Il Basso, a six song record that Benét wrote, performed, produced, and recorded at Donnyland Studios. The album was built around his love of the bass and his affection for the seventies jazz fusion records that helped shape his musical taste.
