Dunable’s Plague Bass Pairs a 35-Inch Scale with D-Split and Baphomet Pickups
Dunable Guitars has unveiled a new signature bass for Castle Rat bassist Charley Ruddell: the Plague Bass. Based on the Thunderclapper model, the limited-edition four-string has a unique build to suit his style.
“Charley Ruddell is a true bass hero, as anyone who has seen a Castle Rat performance lately will tell you,” Dunable writes. “The mid-show bass solo brings to mind such a variety of greats like Cliff Burton, Geezer Butler, and even some Bootsy, yet delivers a unique musical personality – rare for a bassist in a classic heavy metal band.”
Ruddell’s Thunderclapper features a 35-inch scale. It is crafted with a mahogany neck, black limba body, and an ebony fingerboard with Mother of Pearl block inlays. It has an unusual pickup configuration of a D-Split matched with a Baphomet humbucker. Together, Dunable says, they offer the “possibility of two very different but useful tones for all kinds of scenarios.”
Dunable created only two Thunderclapper Plague Basses. It’s available now for $3,499.
