Dirty Loops’ Henrik Linder and Aron Mellergård Reunite for “Slicked by the Lick”

Dirty Loops bassist Henrik Linder and drummer Aron Mellergård are back with another installment of their Songs for Lovers project called “Slicked by the Lick.”

The pair started Songs for Lovers in 2020 by sharing performances from their rehearsal space in Stockholm, giving the rhythm section a place to explore some different musical territory outside of Dirty Loops. Previous installments included “Chicken Lover” and “Bitten by the Kitten.”

The new tune is packed with tight interplay between Linder and Mellergård. Henrik is playing his pink Mattisson six string through an EBS head with plenty of the quick lines, chord work, and rhythmic twists that make his playing so fun to watch.

The credits also include one especially curious entry with Les Claypool listed simply for “hair.” We have no idea what that means but we approve.

There has been no word yet on whether “Slicked by the Lick” is the start of a larger Songs for Lovers release but it is good to see Linder and Mellergård bringing the project back.
