Anna Butterss has left the ranks of Jason Isbell’s backing band, The 400 Unit. The bassist announced the news on Instagram.

“It’s been a special three years with the 400 Unit,” they wrote. “A huge thanks to Jason, my bandmates and our incredible crew and team for making it so memorable. And to everyone who came to a show – it was an honor and a pleasure to play these songs for you. On to the next chapter.”

Butterss just wrapped up a run with Isbell and The 400 Unit at The Ryman in Nashville. They joined the band in 2023, and toured the world with the group. However, Butterss has kept busy while not on the road with the group. They recorded Flea’s solo debut, Honora, and toured with the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist to support it. They’re also a member of SML, an experimental improvisatory quintet making waves in the jazz scene.

We’ll keep you updated as Butterss announces new projects. Isbell’s next scheduled dates with the 400 Unit are in April 2027.
