Lee Rocker to Join Cast of “Million Dollar Quartet”

Lee RockerFormer Stray Cats bassist Lee Rocker will be joining the cast of the Broadway show “Million Dollar Quartet”, portraying Jay Perkins for twelve shows, from January 21st through the 31st, 2011.

The musical is inspired by the recording sessions of December 4, 1956 in the Sun Record Studios, which included a jam session among Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and other session musicians.

Bassist Jay Perkins was brother to Carl, whom Rocker held as a dear friend up until the guitarist’s death.

“The story is especially close to my heart,” he writes on his website.

The Stray Cats played a final farewell tour last year, but Rocker has been keeping active with solo work. According to his site, he is currently working on a new EP of his favorite childhood songs, soon to be released.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
