Tom Hamilton on Aerosmith Writing New Material, Planning Tour and Dreaming of Bass Player Idol

Tom HamiltonAerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton recently taped an update video for the band’s fan site AeroForceOne revealing that the group is working on new material “commencing immediately,” and should be touring by the end of the year.

The group’s progress has been delayed by singer Steven Tyler’s new gig as a judge on the TV show American Idol, but according to Hamilton the band will have 10-day windows to work together.

Tom rounds out the video by pitching his idea for a new show, based around the American Idol format, but with bassists instead.

“An entire show of people playing bass solos. Can you imagine? How cool would that be?”

Maybe it’s a pipe dream, but we would definitely watch!
