Trioscapes, Featuring Dan Briggs: Curse of the Ninth

Ever since Dan Briggs and his band Trioscapes released their debut album Separate Realities, I’ve been hooked. The sax/bass/drums trio has a unique sound that blends their metal and jazz fusion influences to create something new.

Check out this live performance of the song “Curse of the Ninth.” Briggs lays it down heavy on this one, utilizing a looping pedal for layering and a multi-effects pedal at the end for some gnarly tones.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.

  1. A little out of tune for my taste, but I like the aggression and the way the play with the 9. That drummer is sick!

  2. other than good technique, it sounds awful.
