Jonathan Scales Fourchestra with Cody Wright: Mississippi

The innovative Jonathan Scales Fourchestra is releasing a new album in May called Mixtape Symphony. They’ve just released a video of the first movement from the record, “Mississippi.” If it’s any sign of the rest of the album, it’s going to be a killer.

Ironically, the Fourchestra is a trio made up of Jonathan Scales on steel pans, Phill Bronson on drums and Cody Wright on bass. Wright lays down some dense chords under Scales’ virtuosic playing, then rips his own solo starting around the 3:10 mark. All the while Bronson creates the groove that bassists dream of.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
