Marek Bero: Beef It
Bassist Marek Bero sent us this heavy slap groove reminiscent of an early nineties alternative rock, and the back story is one that many of us can relate.
“I’ve started playing bass as a teenager, and nobody around me was taking me seriously,” he wrote. “At the beginning, my attitude was ‘let’s have some fun’ but later on I began to dig deeper and actually spent the whole time in my room practicing. I was into fusion/jazz music until I’ve discovered Blood Sugar Sex Magic with one and only Flea on bass. It has completely changed my playing style with a focus on power and feel coming from the bass. And later on, I discovered Les Claypool with all his peculiarities. I’ve discovered my world! ‘Beef It’ is me saying huge thanks to both of these amazing bassists and human personalities.”
