Bass of the Week: Manne Guitars Moab
This week we’re checking out the Manne Guitars Moab, which they describe as their flagship luxury bass model. The bass comes in four, five, and six-string versions with a korina body topped by walnut, Italian Yew, or poplar. Its multi-laminated neck is fitted with a thin “F resin” fretboard, which Manne says allows for precise attack without dead notes. Its electronics also help with this.
“Manne blade pickups have their coil directly wound on the blades instead of on bobbins to give a fast, pure and detailed sound reproduction,” they write. “Together with the three-way micro-switch for each pickup (that connect the coils of each pickup in series, parallel, or split) gives you enough sound variations. The active circuit is made by Glockenklang. Its main feature, in our opinion, is that it does not compress the sound, keeping the attack, the dynamics and the tone very ‘passive,’ maintaining what we think the real bass sound should be.”
