Mark King Joins Stewart Copeland’s Gizmodrome

Former Police drummer Stewart Copeland has put together a new group called Gizmodrome, and he picked some heavy hitters to join him. The band is rounded out by Italian keyboardist Vittorio Cosma, guitarist Adrian Belew, and Level 42 bassist Mark King. The project will release their self-titled debut album on September 15th, 2017.
Gizmodrome started with Copeland and Cosma, expanding after the drummer invited his friends to a studio in Milan. “Vittorio and I have been playing together for years, in Italy, but it got serious when Adrian and Mark joined us for 15 days of wild creativity in a Milan recording studio,” Copeland explains. “If you put the right guys together in a rehearsal room, ‘strange things’ definitely happen!”
King weighed in saying, “Stewart texted me and asked if I fancied joining him and some of his friends in a studio in Milan. The next thing, I’m banging out basslines to his ferocious beats with Mr. Adrian Belew bouncing sounds off the walls that I never heard before, and Vittorio who somehow always pulls it all together. That is Gizmodrome!”
