Rush’s “A Farewell To Kings” Gets 40th Anniversary Reissue

Rush: A Farewell to Kings 40th Anniversary Edition - super deluxe edition box set

It’s been 40 years since Rush released A Farewell To Kings. The album, which notably features the hit “Closer to the Heart” among others, is being celebrated by the trio with a reissue including a massive box set.

Anchored by the incredible bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee, each version of the reissue includes a remastered version of the original album plus a full Rush concert recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in London in February 1978. A third disc collects four A Farewell To Kings songs covered by Dream Theater, Big Wreck, The Trews, and Alain Johannes as well as a previously unreleased instrumental studio outtake called “Cygnus X-2 Eh”.

The super deluxe edition box set includes three CDs, four LPs, and a Blu-ray audio disc with a new 5.1 surround mix of the album and three 1977 promo videos. It will also have new artwork, a “King’s Ring” custom velvet pouch and neck chain, two lithographs, a 12-inch turntable mat, and a reproduction of the 1978 A Farewell To Kings tour program.

A Farewell to Kings 40th Anniversary Edition is available now on CD, vinyl, a super deluxe box set, and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
