Chapman Guitars Announces MLB1 DH Basses

Chapman Guitars Dave Hollingworth DH Signature Bass

Chapman Guitars has teamed up with Dave Hollingworth to launch a new signature bass. The MLB1 DH was created with the Dorje and Toska bassist to deliver what he considers the perfect bass. A four-string player, Hollingworth’s model doesn’t have a five-string version. Instead, it comes in either regular or fanned fret versions.

“I’ve always been a 4-string player and so the MLB1 DH is home for me but often the music I play finds me needing that extended range of a 5-string,” he writes. “So the addition of the fan fret version gives us exactly that; 26 fanned frets allows the scale length necessary to delve in the to the 5-string world with all the feel of a 4-string.”

The neck-through bass is built with ovangkol body wings topped with mapa burl matched to a wenge neck with ovangkol pinstripes. Its wenge fretboard has rolled edges and a 12th fret gold infinity inlay. Glow-in-the-dark side dots allow for better visibility on dark stages. The bass is set to have a pair of Chapman Jazz single coil pickups matched to a 3-band EQ.
