Fender Introduces Flea Signature Jazz Bass Active Model

Fender used the Summer NAMM Show to unveil a host of new instruments, including a new signature bass with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. It’s his second bass with the company after they released a Jazz model two years ago.
“Our artist signature active bass with Flea was designed to complement the Shell Pink Flea Jazz Bass — a reproduction of his beloved recording bass we recreated with him in 2016,” Fender’s Justin Norvell explains. “This new active model is a complete 180 from the super vintage-style of the other; it’s hyper-modern and ready for the stage.”
The Flea Jazz Bass Active sports a custom Jazz Bass body but is defined its humbucking pickup, which is matched to an Aguilar OBP-1 18-volt preamp. As such it has controls for bass and treble as well as a master volume. The bass comes in a satin finish with either Shell Pink or Inca Silver coloring. Other features include a compound radius fingerboard, a quartersawn maple neck, and a four-saddle Hi Mass bridge.
The Fender Flea Jazz Bass Active will be shipping in October with a street price of $1,699.99.
