Scott Mulvahill: Teen Town on Upright Bass

Scott Mulvahill is a beast of a double bass player in Nashville, but just because he’s in the country music capital of the world doesn’t mean he can’t shred some jazz. In this clip he tackles the masterful Jaco Pastorius song, “Teen Town” on the upright.

“The bass nerds know what I’m talking about. It’s our favorite gameboy-disco-jazz-bass-shred classic,” he wrote in the video description. “I first learned this song when I was studying as a teenager, wanted to try it on acoustic.”

Mulvahill flies through the melody along with the recording without missing a beat. He also takes time for a quick coffee break.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
