Elrick Bass Guitars Unveil the Icon Bass
At this year’s Winter NAMM Show, luthier Rob Elrick showed us a new prototype he was working on that paid homage to a classic bass design. Now that instrument has come to fruition as the Elrick Icon Bass, which adds modern updates to an industry standard.
“The Elrick Handcarved Icon Gold Series bass features bolt-on neck construction with a body that features a ‘heel-less’ design for unparalleled upper register access and an asymmetrical bolt pattern offering exceptional stability,” the company writes.
The hand-carved bass comes with plenty of options for woods, but comes standard with a swamp ash body and quarter-sawn hard maple neck with 24 frets including a zero fret. The 34-inch scale bass also has a birdseye maple fretboard. For electronics, the Icon is fitted with a Bartolini split-coil pickup with passive volume and tone controls. Among the options Elrick offers are a variety of wood choices, four or five-string versions, a P/J pickup combination, active pickups, and more.
The Elrick Icon Bass is available now with prices starting at $3,400 for a four-string in a hardshell case.
