Ray’s raving about… Eldar Djangirov and his newest CD

Eldar Djangirov: VirtueEldar Djangirov’s CD, Virtue, has been spinning in my car for weeks now.

I unfortunately had never heard of Eldar until reading a review about this new CD and when I checked it out I was instantly a fan. At first I was drawn by his amazing technique and angular lines but the deeper I got into the music I was very impressed with his compositions as a whole.

At the ripe old age of 22 (LOL), has created an amazing piece of work and I am certainly excited to follow this young mans career in the years to follow.

This new CD actually is a follow up to his 2008 Grammy-nominated album, re-imagination.

Virtue features mostly original compositions by Eldar performed with bassist Armando Gola and drummer Ludwig Afonso and has guest appearances by trumpeter Nicholas Payton and saxophonists Joshua Redman and Felipe Lamoglia.

Eldar has a cool website too. Check him out in this video performance of “The Exorcist” from the Virtue:
