John Paul Jones confirms no Led Zeppelin tour

Recently, Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones – along with band mates Jimmy Page and Jason Bonham – had considered touring as Led Zeppelin with a session singer. Original vocalist Robert Plant stated in 2008 that he “will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin,” even after the December 2007 reunion show attracted 1 million fans for a mere 9,000 pairs of tickets. Since then the band has been working with other singers, but the idea was ultimately not pursued.

Jone’s recently explained to BBC 6 Music that “Jimmy and I rehearsed a bit with Jason Bonham and we couldn’t really agree on singers and that fell by the wayside.”

His current project with Them Crooked Vultures has also been consuming his time. “Then this came along and to be honest, I’m really happy,” Jones said.

A disappointment to Led Zeppelin fans, but there’s a lot of new music to look forward to with Them Crooked Vultures. The band’s first single, “New Fang” is now streaming on YouTube with the debut album set to release November 17th 2009.
